Family Support Group

The Family Support Group aims to promote communication between parents in the parish and build a community of parents sharing experiences and information by giving and receiving spiritual, emotional and practical support.

The Family Support Group provides Divorce Support, Parenting Skills and Alzheimer’s Care giver Support.

This is achieved by arranging ongoing talks, workshops, skills training and retreats.

Parishioners are also welcome to contact our Catholic Counselling Network counsellors for non judgemental and confidential assistance in time of need or just to gain a different perspective in dealing with challenges.


PARENTING SKILLS PROGRAMME
Tuesdays 20 July – 7 September 2010 / Time: 7.30 - 9.30pm
Venue: Parish Centre, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bergvliet

The Parenting Skills Programme is run over eight weeks in 2hr sessions by trained facilitators. It encourages the growth of parenting skills by dealing with topics like;

· Understanding our children.
· Communication, encouragement and discipline.
· Parental responsibility.

DIVORCE SUPPORT
Wednesday 4 August 2010 / Time: 7.30pm
Venue: Parish Centre, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bergvliet.

The Family Support Group is hosting a talk on Blended Families by Anne Cawood, school counsellor, social worker and authoress. Anne is a sought after speaker and very experienced in her field working with children.
Anne’s talk will give insight and skills in understanding how to effectively manage issues and challenges that arise within blended families.(eg. Step and half brothers, sisters and extended family) DO NOT MISS THIS TALK HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

BEYOND DIVORCE WORKSHOP

Venue: Christ Church Centre, Kenilworth

A workshop conducted in a safe atmosphere that will facilitate your journey of self discovery and enable you to find your own solutions
